Hair Sunscreen
Sunburned Scalp
Recently, while vacationing in Mexico, I got a tiny
sunburn on my scalp. No, I'm not bald! Nor did I get
the sunburn on my forehead or above my ears. Instead
I got the sunburn right down the center of my part.
I thought I had been taking all the necessary
precautions. I was careful to lather on the
sunscreen
20 to 30 minutes before going outside, once outside
I again lathered on the sunscreen when needed, and
I seeked shade when I felt I had enough sun. Overall
this suncare routine worked very well; I didn't look
like the majority of the sunburned tourists and proud
of it! The only thing I didn't consider was getting
a sunburned scalp.
This tiny sunburn on my scalp surprised me because
I had never before had a sunburn on my head. Although,
I suppose I shouldn't have been too surprised, I
don't like wearing hats and I'd never heard of hair
sunscreen before. Luckily the hotel store had sunscreen
scalp spray and hair gel with sunscreen. I stared using
both products the day I discovered my sunburn. By the
second day of use my sunburn had healed. Now I use
sunscreen scalp spray and hair gel with sunscreen as
part of my daily suncare routine, as I dislike wearing
hats.
