Indoor vs. Outdoor Tanning Lotions

Tanning lotions can be found specifically formulated for either indoor tanning or outdoor tanning; and while the purpose of both products is the same - to help with a great tan, the formulations differ greatly. The main reason the formulations are so different is because indoor tanning lotions can't contain ingredients such as mineral oil, which damages the acrylics found in sunbeds.

While outdoor tanning lotions can't be used for indoor tanning, the reverse isn't always true. Indoor lotions can be used for outdoor tanning, but keep in mind they don't contain any SPF sunscreen protection.

To keep things simple it's usually best to simply use indoor lotions for indoor tanning and outdoor lotions for outdoor tanning. Besides, indoor lotions usually cost more so you wouldn't want to waste them outdoors when cheaper outdoor tanning lotions work just as well.
