Tanning Eyewear
Wearing approved tanning bed eye protection is a must at
professional
tanning salons.
Simply closing your eyes or
wearing sunglasses during your tanning visit isn't enough.
Your eyelids are so thin that the ultraviolet light easily
penetrates, resulting in damage to your cornea, lens, and
retina. Longterm exposure to ultraviolet light emitted by
the tanning salon beds can lead to serious conditions such
as: macular degeneration, cataracts, corneal scarring, or
even the development of pterygium
(a growth on the eyes). Unfortunately many don't heed this
warning making tanning bed eye damage the most common indoor
tanning injury.
Federally approved tanning bed eyewear is designed to stop 99% of
UVA and 99.9% of UVB light – cover up those baby blues!
